Instructions

  • In a bowl - mix flour - salt - and sugar.
  • Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in ice water - mix until dough forms.
  • Divide dough in half - shape into discs - wrap in plastic - and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large bowl - combine sliced apples - sugar - flour - cinnamon - nutmeg - and lemon juice.
  • Roll out one dough disc and place it in a pie dish.
  • Fill with apple mixture - dot with butter.
  • Roll out the second dough disc - place over filling - sealing edges. Cut slits in the top for steam to escape.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until crust is golden and apples are tender.
